Each year, the liturgical calendar on September 15 invites us to commemorate Our Lady of Sorrows. Our Blessed Eugénie, who experienced suffering in her body, in her heart, and in her soul, speaks of this in her writings. She understands its difficulty, but also its fruitfulness. Finally, on this day, she invites us to turn our gaze toward the Virgin Mary, to allow ourselves to be looked upon by her so as to seek her maternal smile, and to let her encourage us just as that Mother did at the foot of Jesus’ Cross.
“Jesus Christ, stripped of everything on the Cross, is nevertheless clothed in a double garment: infinite purity and the purple of love, the purple of blood. It is with this double garment that He wished to clothe His Holy Mother: the Immaculate One is, indeed, the Queen of Martyrs. Oh, how beautiful She is, adorned, like Her Son, with this precious garment. But, having become our Mother in this hour of sorrow, Mary herself has fashioned this double garment for each of her children. ” (Notebook 8, Suffering).
