Decree of recognition of the Association

“Les Amis de la Bienheureuse Eugénie Joubert”

– Considering canons 298 to 311 and 321 to 326 of the Code of Canon Law concerning private associations of the faithful,

– Considering the Instruction for the conduct of diocesan or eparchial enquiries concerning the causes of saints (https://www.causesanti.va/it/documenti/sanctorum­mater-francais.html), articles 9 to 12, on the actor of the cause and the postulator,

– In view of the request by the Association “Les Amis de la Bienheureuse Eugénie Joubert” dated 2 July 2023 asking for recognition as a private association of the faithful,

– In view of the Statutes of the said Association, deposited on 9 October 2023 with the Chancellery of the Diocese of Liège,

– Considering that the object of this Association is to make Blessed Eugénie Joubert (Holy Family of the Sacred Heart) – born in Yssingeaux (France) on 11 February 1876, died in Liège (Belgium) on 2 July 1904, beatified in Rome by Pope Saint John Paul II on 20 November 1994 – better known; to develop her cult; to become involved in the cause for the canonisation of Blessed Eugénie Joubert,

– Considering that Sister Marie-Catherine, the only nun of the Holy Family of the Sacred Heart, who died on 7 August 2023, withdrew in writing (in French and Italian) on 20 April 2023 from the cause for the canonisation of Blessed Eugénie Joubert (and all related procedures) in favour of the Association “Les Amis de la Bienheureuse Eugénie Joubert” and that Mother Rebecca Nazzaro, Mother Superior of the Missionaries of Divine Revelation in Rome, and Don Roberto Spataro, Salesian Father of Don Bosco, were witnesses,

– Considering that the Association is represented by the symbol below which figures the unity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Holy Heart of Mary indicated in the Prayer of thanksgiving to Blessed Eugénie Joubert (imprimatur Mgr Jean-Pierre Delville, Bishop of Liège):

Recognise the Statutes of the Association “Les Amis de la Bienheureuse Eugénie Joubert”, constituted as a private association of the faithful, for a period of five years, ad experimentum.

We consider the aforementioned association, as well as the Diocese of Liège itself, to be actors in the cause.

The Association “Les Amis de la Bienheureuse Eugénie Joubert” shall send each year to the Bishop of the Diocese of Liège a summary of their activities in accordance with the object of the Association.
