On this beautiful feast day, let us understand, along with Blessed Eugénie Joubert, that Mary has but one desire: to draw us to follow her and to hold us close to her Mother’s heart!
Eugénie celebrated our Mother, who ascends to Heaven, in this way (Journal 35): “Would a tiny child who cannot yet walk even think of climbing steep rocks or a high mountain all by itself? (…) And yet it can climb even higher—but it is not alone: it is carried in its mother’s arms, close to her heart. There, it has no fear of failing to reach its goal or of falling along the way. Why? Because it sees only its mother’s heart, her love. (…) Ah! I know this well! I have a Mother, and I am the child of her sorrows; how could She not carry me in the depths of her mercy and thus bring me to the Heart of Jesus? Mary—She is my Mother!”
