“Jesus took Peter, James, and John with him and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them.” (Matthew 17:1–2)
In the presence of Jesus, whose face shone like the sun and whose clothes were white as light, his apostles were filled with wonder and wanted to remain with him forever.
In faith, Blessed Eugénie Joubert also contemplates her Lord with enthusiasm. Her writings in her Notebook 10, on “The Reign of Jesus Christ,” bear witness to this: “Jesus, You alone are beautiful. You alone are great. You alone deserve all my love. Be for me the One King, the One Lord of my being, because to serve You is to reign; it is the wonder of life; it is the fullness of joy.”
On this beautiful feast of the Transfiguration, let us take the time to gather in prayer near the tabernacle—and why not echo Eugénie’s simple words?
